Gencon

Oh sure, it was a while back, but we thought we should at least make a single post about Gencon. It was of course amazing, wondrous, insane and humbling all at the same time. We got to chat with many vendors and hung out quite a great deal with the fine gentlepeople of Iron Crown Enterprises. We played all sorts of games, mostly roleplaying, with one tabletop game which got so intense that a son was disinherited as he slew his father letting the kingdom be lost to foreign invaders. (We admit it, it was us. We disinherited our son. His sister will inherit the empire now and yes he deserved it). If you have never been to Gencon we can’t recommend it strongly enough. Its true that it can be very pricey, but with enough planning it doesn’t have to be hideously expensive either.

Now we didn’t have time to take many pictures while we were there, though the above is a sample at least, however there is one that we thought we would highlight for the product pictured in it, Paris 1648. Now this isn’t a review per se, but we will say this – we are big fans of the idea of roleplaying in Louis XIV’s France and this book delivers in every suit. The variety and density of information is unreal and is more than enough to keep a single campaign running for years all in a single year in Paris. This book should be required reading for every roleplaying supplement writer that picks up a pen. Et c’est tout.
